The journey till now
I left the UK and arrived in New Zealand in 2006. I’d spent the previous 7 years in the RAF and had completed a 4 day tiling course as part of my resettlement in to civilian life. After a couple of weeks searching for a job, I saw an advert for an experienced tiler in the paper. I called my soon to be boss, and was told he was hoping for slightly more experience than 4 days, but he’ll keep me in mind. A couple of days later I was given a chance, and well here I am, still tiling today. After completing my apprenticeship and getting a few years experience under my belt, I went out on my own and Wellington tiling was born. Apart from the odd friend helping me out, or being accompanied by my very young apprentice (seen in the picture with me) on the rare occasion, Wellington tiling is a one man company. Meaning if you hire Wellington tiling, you get a qualified tiler with 18 years experience in the industry, not an apprentice, and definitely not some imposter with DIY tiling certificate.
